After working in improv for over 25 years, MakeShift Creative Group's co-founder, Pj Jacokes wanted to make something a little more permanent. "Improv is such an incredible art form," says Jacokes, "But it's so temporary. Most of the time, you do it once and it's gone forever. I've had the privilege of making people laugh for most of my life, but I wanted to have a deeper effect and I knew that teaching others the basics of improv could set them up for success in ways that drier training can't."
Co-Founder Anne Di Iorio-Fitzpatrick agrees, "I came into improv, initially, as a way to improve my skills as a psychologist. I learned skills that I could use on stage, but more importantly, out in the real world."
Together, they form MakeShift Creative Group, a new venture built on decades of training. They share the goal of turning strangers into teams and giving individuals a stronger voice, deeper sense of empathy and a fun afternoon that they won't soon forget.
